The cold front blew through, the sun was shining, and my deck never looked more beautiful. Eight amazing artists arrived, full of joy and a few ideas, and we set up and went to work.
After priming her canvas Sue studies the amazingly beautiful shadows created by the sunlight through the trees. Maybe we should paint the negative spaces and call it done?
Alice and Robin waste no time painting in their backgrounds. The temperature was perfect with a cool breeze creating a few challenges as our canvases went flying off the easels. We were so happy to be cool, no one complained!
Mary Ann is off in her own aquatic world, and totally immersed in the colors of the sea. Will one of her mermaids appear?
I actually had a pretty good start. Someone should have shot me before I ruined it!
Nope, this one is not going to work out. Not the soft, delicate edges I had planned. I’ll have to gesso over this one and try again.
Just to make me feel good, Kat painted over hers also. My buddy! But aren’t the shadows wonderful?
Jan, the first to finish, has created a caterpillar with a bandana – we think – the colors are fun and funky, and Jan’s happy with her abstract.
Not to be outdone, Sherry’s put together a very nice painting with doves or lambs (or some other mystic creatures) flying across a field of green and blue. Beautiful colors!
Sherry and Jan vow to try this again soon. I agree.
Sue is building mountains and lakes, trees and snow – she will join Kat and me finishing next week!
Mary Ann and Sherry discuss how many mermaids it takes to change a painting, while Alice proves trees are not always green and skies are not always blue.
Robin happily displays the bouquet she painted, and Mary Ann resolves to finish her painting at home.
Add a luscious luncheon, cold beverages and great friendships, this was indeed a picture perfect day!
